Bones n’Roses

Stefan Gritsch has created an oeuvre that is fundamentally related to painting despite the fact that he neither paints nor uses paintbrushes. One of his crucial concerns is paint itself: paint as a substance is the body and subject matter of untold works. Gritsch has been variously represented in institutions at home and abroad. The extraordinary complexity and breadth of this oeuvre will be revealed in a solo exhibition at the Aargauer Kunsthaus in 2019. A reader is planned to accompany the exhibition and provide in-depth insight into the most important aspects and phases of Gritsch’s art. The publication moves through a series of spaces, each assigned to a specific theme, for instance ROSES, INVERSIONS, AN EXHIBITION IN THE EXHIBITION, TRANSLATIONS, IMPACTS, ANIMAL, STILLNOW, FLOWERS and GARDEN.
The exhibition at the Aargauer Kunsthaus will be on view from 18 May to 11 August 2019.
