KNIRI

According to legend, a huge avalanche surged down into the valley from the Stanserhorn and miraculously came to a halt just before ravaging the town of Stans. In the chapel “Kniri,”
erected at that spot in gratitude, a boulder deposited by the avalanche has been built into the wall of the choir. It testifies to the legend and can still be seen today at the top of the
outside wall. Not far from this chapel, there is an old wooden house in which the artist couple Barbara and Heini Gut have been living for 49 years. There, over the decades, a microcosm of striking inner radiance has emerged – a unique gesamtkunstwerk, which has now been captured in the book Kniri.
