In 1994 the artist Christophe Rütimann had himself suspended from the old, legendary Museum of Art in Lucerne in a gesture of leave-taking. In 2002 he had himself suspended from and propelled around the roof of the new Culture and Convention Centre in Lucerne (KKL), repeating the ritual to signal his solidarity with the new Museum of Art. Between these two performances, he has tirelessly pursued endless lines in Arbon, Basel, Poschiavo, Geneva, Zurich and Beijing, and left traces behind in Bern, Lucerne (IMF 1997) , at Lake Constance and Pfäffikon (SZ). For the first time a rich array of photographs documents Rütimann’s performances in a book.
