Edizioni Periferia celebrates its 30th birthday in 2022 and has so far produced over 250 titles. In the picture below, the stack to the right represents the output of the first twenty years and the stack to the left, that of the last ten. But what comes next in such difficult times (not only) for publishers? Digitalization is steadily appropriating world affairs, public and private libraries are in decline, many printers have already closed down, many more are running out of steam, the price of paper and ink is becoming almost prohibitive…

Despite the challenges that lie ahead, the quality art book and even more the artist’s book continue to be objects of delight for lovers of the printed page. So, three cheers for the printed book with its distinctive tangibility and the fragrance of printer’s ink! Our devotion to it is as strong as ever and we look forward to presenting a third stack of beautiful, exceptional publications in the course of the next 10 years.
