Anton Egloff, one of the most distinctive representa-tives of contemporary art in Switzerland and central Switzerland, has shown his work in public spaces and exhibitions since 1963. He has preserved models and sketches of his projects, built miniatures of larger installations and worked out countless designs as bridges for the future. The substantial archive that he has accumulated over the years quintessentially chronicles turbulent and transformative decades of contemporary art. In his capacity as a now legendary teacher at the School of Design in Lucerne and as an artist who ceaselessly inquires into the contextual framework of his own output, Egloff has created an oeuvre of great relevance, embracing historical and social developments which can be traced in his archives.

The publication Storefront contains 80 works, si-tuations and assemblages in flat plywood boxes, spanning 1968 to 2002. He mounts these on walls, lays them out on the floor and stores them in shelves with no chronological order. Fragile materials are vehicles for heavy physical and spatial designs; subtle, understated colours and structures eloquently testify to profound artistic investigations. Storefront is a modest and all the more compelling work, aesthetically and artistically; almost incidentally it offers a wealth of visual delights and discoveries.
